[access-uk] GoldWave advice please!

Greetings,

Sent the message below to the GoldWave list very early Saturday morning and
also to the AccessUK list mid evening Sunday. I have not seen it come back
yet, wonder if, perhaps, I have spam filter problems or
maybe I do not have enough patience but so as to catch any not on the list
but who use GoldWave, I am also sending it here.

I have had a private message but the person concerned was unable to advise
me how to get round my problem.

I reproduce below the message as sent to the GoldWave list on GoogleGroups.

Greetings,

I have GoldWave v5.12 on a WindowsME laptop and Jaws v5.1.

I suspect my question is very obvious to some but not me.

I wanted to put a short piece of music at the sstart of a tape and fade it
down and mix speech then fade back to normal volume.

I was not sure how to do this easily, what I tried did give results but the
wrong ones.

Please can somebody advise in simple terms how I best do this?

I tried volume, fadeout having selected the total area on which I wished to
work, I thought that it would work but it didn't so I tried selecting the
area of fade down being about five seconds, hoping the volume would stay low
after my selection.

So, again, what I want to do is fade about 25 seconds, the speech to be
mixed is 12 seconds, fading down over the start say five secones and fade
back up over the end five seconds, thus giving me 15 seconds into which to
mix the speech.

I hope this is a clear enough explanation.

I have been able to fade up / down at start/end of selection, each time
from/to silence.
