Jack, what firewall are you using? I use Windows Firewall, and it allowed the ports to be opened without questioning.

I'd agree, spam filter probably lets in one message a month or
something like that. Only other minor issue was that I had to mess
about with my firewall slightly, as secure pop/smtp uses different
ports than is standard.
