Hi Phil, have you seen the new Trekker Breeze from Humanware? There's a review
of it on BlindCoolTech and I'm sure if you Google it you'll find more. There
was a discussion about it on list not a very long time ago so you could try
checking the archive.
I know that you can't plan a root using this device but it can remember roots
you've already walked. For travelling about in your campus it could be what
you're looking for. Mind you though, Wayfinder might have a free mode too, I'm
not sure.
Hope that helps a bit.
Amro

Hi Carol,
This is interesting, I've just found a podcast on the blind cool tech site
which demoed mobile geo vs Wayfinder, as the podcast said pros and cons either
way but I suspect price will be big factor so will wait and see how much FS
think about charging for the sendaro package for the Pacmate.
This is the sort of stuff I want to know though so thanks for passing on info.
Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,
There's been some talk recently on the
gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
list run by Sendero. Primarily they worked first with BrailleNote, but
there's now some work being done with Freedom Scientific so their GPS (rated by
some as the very best and certainly good) will soon be coming to the PacMate.
As you already own one of these, watch this space!
Sorry, not being very interested in that particular subject, I didn't pay
close attention, just noted it was happening. I don't think "When" was
actually stated, but I could be wrong on that one!

Hi,
Have been off list for a while and so apologies if I'm a bit behind the
times here but I am really interested to know where things are at with GPS
systems.
I have never used any of the systems before but I am really interested in
knowing how well the various options work, which ones people use and why. I
guess my thinking it's between Wayfinder or StreetTalk as I do already have a
Pacmate - although I'm not 100% sure whether you can get StreeTalk for the UK.
One thing I would like whiever one I get is to be able help me get around
the University of Birmingham campus where I work although I'm not sure how well
GPS would work with finding specific buildings especially as the whole campus
all comes under the same postcode.
As I say apologies if there's been loads of traffic on this recently and
I'm late in on it.
Looking forward to people's responses,
Cheers,
Phil
