Niche products don't fall in price when they have a captured market. It's
unfortunate, but equipment for VIP is a niche market. We need the equipment
so we have to pay whatever the manufacturer wants to charge.
What we, or I, need to do is to vote with my feet, so to speak, and go for
the I-phone and the Mac. My problem is the steap learning curve to change,
and I suspect that this is the case with many VI people. I'm tempted to get
an I-phone, but it's an expensive outlay if I can't get my head around it.
Same goes for a Mac. I'm used to Jaws and Talks.

If everyday technology didn't fall to a level where it was
available for the everyday public, we still would be running
around throwing our spears at the wooly mammoths.... that's
why Mums go to Iceland!!lol!
If the pricing was reduced, more access would be given;
improving the situation for the visually impaired individual
who could afford to update it at a more regular interval.
How many have the latest version of all items? We only
change when forced by the advancement of mainstream software
and equipment.
There was talk that due to accessibility equipment, visual
impairment would not be considered a disability! That's
alright, but who's writing a blank cheque for the equipment
we would need?
