[access-uk] Fw: a great wireless keyboard

Hi all.

I will post this to the list rather than just writing to Darran as it may
very well be of interest to others also.

Regards

Subject: [access-uk] a great wireless keyboard

Hi Listers
A couple of months ago I commented to the list that I'd tried a number of
wireless keyboards, none of which I could recommend to others on the list.

These included keyboards from Microsoft, belkin, trust, 2 from logitec, 2
from creative and 3 from PC World. The problems were equally associated with
strange keyboard layouts as with the poor range of the systems.

However, I have just bought 2 new cherry marlin keyboards which meet all
the features I've always wanted in a wireless keyboard.

They are of the modern flat design, with positive key travel, with no bounce
and a slight click. The layout is exactly standard, with 3 groups of 4
function keys and a proper sized delete key together with an insert key. In
fact the keyboard has the feel of a highly professional unit, for a price
of £40 plus VAT and delivery.

The great thing about the keyboard is the range which is quoted as 10
metres, but I've tried it outside in the garden about 15 metres from the
sender and through two internal walls and an exterior wall - albeit in my
modern house, so I don't know what the range would be outside of an older
house with stone walls. But I would think that it would travel inside a
house from say a computer in the bedroom down to the lounge.

The sender/receiver is very small being approximately one inch by two
inches. It uses the 2 MHz range rather than the more usual 500 KHz range,
but it doesn't seem to affect my wi-fi system.

I have no experience of the optical mouse other than saying that the feel is
equally professional and it comes with a charging cable that when fitted
during recharging, allows the mouse to be used just like a corded mouse, so
users can always use it irrespective of the state of the rechargeable
batteries.

The keyboards can be purchased from: tekdata on 01782.665500.
