Fraud is actually down, (when card is used in shops) as a direct result of chip and PIN. However be aware fraud is up, for (card not present) internet shopping transactions. Consider the following possible way of fraud: Bank sends you card. Someone opens the envelope before you get it. They then make note of your name, address, card number (as well as the card's security number) They then reseal the envelope and when you receive it you won't be aware someone else has all the details then need, to shop at your expense, on internet!
