Indeed Barry, I think apple tried to sue their users in the US for using
their Phones in such a way as to be unlawful in apples eyes.  The judge said
that these people had a right to use their phones in a spirit of fair use,
so if they wanted to shake them to bits with over vibrating alerts, over
stretch the camera with applications etc, they could do so, as long as they
were aware of the damage that could possibly be caused.

Hi,

Regarding the legality of copying DVDs.  It's a bit of a grey area, but
there is an argument that copying them for personal backups and to port them
to portable players etc falls under Fair use.
