Hi Navigon's great - it got me over much of Scotland. With this level of interest wouldn't it be an idea to have a list about all this?

Hi.Oh, there was no one specific reason, its just that I'd also bought Navigon and didn't find Tom-Tom as accessible or as easy to use as Navigon was. Navigon fulfills all of my pedestrian and car navigation needs, so its the only gps solution I use on my phone. Of course everyone is going to have a different opinion as to what works for them and that's what choice is all about, so feel free to try Tom-Tom if you want to.All the best, Ibrahim.----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew" <encompassmawnan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 23, 2011 6:44 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Four apps for iPod Touch/iPhone to recommendHi Ibrahim I have been considering Tom-tom. I bought Tom-tom UK and Ireland because listening to a podcast which compared GPS programs it sounded quite good, but I decided I didn't like it so approached Apple for a refund. Even though there was no real reasoning behind my request other than I already had GPS in the form of Navigon, they gave me my refund never the less as a gesture of goodwill. All the best, Ibrahim.----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairnsplace@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 23, 2011 3:46 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Four apps for iPod Touch/iPhone to recommendHi IbrahimI downloaded an app for 59p that didn't work the other day, and just put it down to hard luck. It was a Teletext type app which I hoped would allow me to page up at least Ceefax, but it didn't, so that was that. But Quick News UK is a good one though and does work with VoiceOver for the same price.Kind Regards, Jackie Cairns J&M Work-Ability jandm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.work-ability.co.uk -----Original Message-----From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf OfIbrahim Gucukoglu Sent: 23 January 2011 12:52 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Four apps for iPod Touch/iPhone to recommend Hi Jim.Well, applevis is probably the only website I really use if I'm looking for something specific and want to find out whether someone else has tested an app before, but generally speaking I'll just go and download apps and try them on the off chance that they'll be accessible or at least usable. The problem comes when you download paid for apps which aren't accessible, and all you can do really is grit your teeth and learn a lesson or two as Apple are quite reluctant to give refunds unless there is a very good reasoningbehind your request. This is from personal experience and in no wayreflects on the staff working at the online stores service desk, but it alldepends on who you get and how sympathetic they are to you. I've comeacross some really snotty individuals who will either question you on thespecific reason you want a refund and insist on testing the app forthemselves, either that or turn down a refund request outright. In contrast though, there are some really good staff whom are a pleasure to deal withand who are only too happy to help. All the best and good luck on your app search. Take care, Ibrahim. ----- Original Message ----- From: "jim" <j_doherty2@xxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 23, 2011 10:22 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Four apps for iPod Touch/iPhone to recommendHi Ibrahim, It would be very useful to know what apps are accessible and which are not. So I decided to visit the AppStore and, for 59p each, I bought four applications that work withVoiceOver. They are the World Fact Book 2011, a dictionary and thesaurus, Tune In Radio and, probably my favourite, Birds ofBritain. The latter is an amazing little program if you love birdsound and details. Not only can you play the song, but you canlisten to VoiceOver provide a description of their size, colour, family, time of year etc. There is also a favourites button to usewhere you can add a library of your favourite birds to it.Tune In Radio is great. Similarly, there is a bookmark facility where you can make a list of the stations you wish to add. BecauseI love tennis, and the Australian Open is on at the moment, I havegreat difficulty getting it on DAB as we have such a diabolicalsignal in these parts. So when I tuned in using the Sonata at 8.00this morning, a message said that restricted rights prevented coverage. I find this often happens at weekends when football matches are in progress too. So I tuned my iPod to Sports Extra and, low and behold, got the tennis on live. All the above apps work with VoiceOver. I don't use my keyboard for everything, mainly when I get into tricky areas that need a bitof typing. Mostly, I use my fingers and have got used to doing sonow. Just thought I'd pass on the info.
