Roy,

Does that recorder find the phone number say of the person more or less
instantly when you speak their name in to the machine like The Parrot does/did?

Flash memory think it's called.

  Hi Tony,
I now use an Olympus VN2100 recorder, it cost in the 30 quid bracket.
Although it has folders these are individually called up by a button. Multiple
messages can be recorded in the one folder, these are selected by pressing an
up and down rocker, each file is indicated by a Bleep. I believe another person
recommended an Olympus in the same price bracket. These units can be operated
in one hand. Argos probably still stock these devices.

    Hi Roy,

    Thanks for that.

I'll go along with the Voicemate for now at any rate but definitely would
like something like it in the future!

I use it primarily for work and am surprised
that there aren't such other type recorders available out there for folk
like me!

      Hi Tony,
I bought the Tap Memo when they first were listed, I kept it for a week,
found it unsatisfactory, it took an eternity to put a message in without doing
multiple corrections. If you have been used to the Parrot or it's successor, I
am sure you would do the same as I did!!!! Return it as almost useless. I think
it was priced at £90.00. I have never heard anyone that has made a success of
the unit.

        Hi Clive again,

I had a few moments to spare so rang Cobolt and they don't do the Tap
Memo any more and they couldn't say if there will be another such type of
recorder apart from the Portable Cassette Recorder!

Something like The Tap is what I need I now feel.

You or anyone else with other ideas of what may suit I would be happy
to hear about it.

        Thanks,

        Tony

          Hello Tony,

There is the tap memo from Cobolt Systems which is a multi-function
device
and uses voice recognition to store and retrieve data. Visit their
online
          shop at:

          www.cobolt.co.uk

          Hope this helps.

          Best wishes,

          Clive Pallett
