phishing is where you get an email properting to come from a bank or other financial institution asking you to clarify your account details by clicking on a link to visit a supposed secure website. These emails come from seemingly ligit sources such as halifac etc, but they are not from those reputable companies. no bank will ask you for your full account number/pin/passcode when you log in to their service, and they certainly wouldn't ask you to click on a link from an email.

this is bad stuff indeed.
