John, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a friend of mine waited over 
two years for her dog.  She's totally blind too and by the time she did 
eventually get her dog, she'd totally lost her confidence to travel on her 
own and it took a while to come back again.  This is really unacceptable. 
How can someone who has had pretty good independence for possibly ten years 
suddenly be left floundering and reliant on others for two years.  I don't 
know what the answer is except that waiting times will have to shorten 
considerably if GDBA is to provide any sort of acceptable service.
