I doubt I, or anybody, could make your head spin George you're far too sensible for that smile. However, lest \I be accused on this serious list of banter: I was trying to alter the folder downloads are saved in but downloads didn't appear to be in the list after I'd gone to tools and options how I hate it when an instruction can't be followed up.
Also I'm not certain that Firefox has become my default internet browser, when I first installed it I was asked if I wanted it to be, this time I wasn't and on my start menu now I have either internet or firefox so seem to just have to choose whereas before I'm sure that internet just came up automatically with firefox.
Confused? Yes me too. Mandy.----- Original Message ----- From: "George Bell" <george@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, June 26, 2007 9:59 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Firefox. I know many people hate Help files, but JAWS does have quite an extensive range of Help topics regarding Firefox. Here's one. George. Mozilla Firefox Getting Started There are no special installation or setup requirements to run this product with JAWS. Simply start the program using normal procedures. Refer to the product's online help system as required. If you need assistance with JAWS commands or want to know what new features have been added that JAWS supports, press INSERT+F1+F1. JAWS uses the Virtual Cursor with Firefox. This allows you to read pages just like you would in Internet Explorer. Use the standard document reading commands to move through text, and press ENTER to activate links. When you move to a link with the TAB key, you can press CTRL+ENTER to open the link in a new tab or SHIFT+ENTER to open it in a new window. Alternatively, you can press ALT+ENTER to save the target of the link as a file on your computer. You can also use Navigation Quick Keys to quickly move to headings, lists, links, tables, form controls, and other HTML elements. For example, you can press T for table, F for form control, V for visited link, H for heading, and so on. Add SHIFT to move to the previous element of that type. For a complete listing of these commands, visit Navigation Quick Keys. Displaying Lists of Information JAWS can create lists of certain HTML elements on the current page, just like in Internet Explorer. Press INSERT+F3 to see the various types of lists that are available. You also can use the following commands to quickly display lists of the following important HTML elements: Form Fields - Press INSERT+F5 Headings - Press INSERT+F6 Links - Press INSERT+F7 Frames - Press INSERT+F9 In addition, if you hold down CTRL+INSERT and press one of several Navigation Quick Keys, JAWS displays a list of those elements on the current page. For example, to display a list of check boxes on the current page, press CTRL+INSERT+X. For a complete list of keystrokes that display lists of elements, refer to Navigation Quick Keys. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to move through the lists and select items. Alternatively, press the first letter of an item to move right to it. Press ENTER to move to the selected item's location on the page. Interacting with Forms To interact with forms in Firefox, you must use Forms Mode, just like in Internet Explorer. Press ENTER to switch to Forms Mode. While in this mode, press TAB or SHIFT+TAB to move between form controls. After you have completed the form, press NUM PAD PLUS to exit Forms Mode. For more information, visit HTML Forms. Using the Downloads Manager The Downloads Manager appears automatically when you save a file from the Web on your computer. You can also display it at any time by pressing CTRL+J or by opening the Tools menu and choosing Downloads. The Downloads Manager shows all files that you have downloaded with Firefox. In the Downloads Manager, you can select a downloaded file with the arrow keys. After you have selected a file, you can press the TAB key once to select Open, and then press ENTER to open the file. Alternatively, you can press the TAB key a second time to select Remove, and then press ENTER to remove the file from the Downloads Manager. Choose the Clean Up button to remove all files from the Download Manager. Tip: To change the folder where Firefox saves downloaded files, open the Tools menu, choose Options, and select "Downloads." Then, select the Save All Files to this Folder radio button, and choose the Browse button. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mandy Sent: Tuesday, June 26, 2007 9:51 AM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Firefox. Hi sorry to go on about this again - I've just tried to import my favourites/bookmarks but this didn't seem to work so I saved "Sainsbury's" by using control d once I'd got to the point where I wanted to save it: saved under Sainsbury's online but when I try to get back to it I can't is it alt d then the initial letter of what I've saved? If so it isn't working: if not please explain further. I keep uninstalling and then reinstalling and I'm sure this is not a good practice so I am determined to try to keep with it this time. Mandy, first of all Favourites in Firefox are called
Bookmarks, as
someone already mentioned. However, I don't think he quite
answered your
question as there was no mention on how to import
Favourites from
Internet Explorer. However, here's how to store bookmarks: 1. Open Firefox and go to a website. 2. Press control d. The add bookmark dialogue box appears. 3. Either type a name of your choice, or leave it as its
default, which
is the name of the page. 4. Press enter. The site has now been stored to your bookmarks. To access the site(s) you stored: 1. Open the bookmarks menu with alt b. 2. Like Internet Explorer, choose a site from the menu. In terms of setting Firefox as your default browser, it is
strongly
recommended that you do, as you can then use Firefox for
the majority of
your web browsing and use IE if and only if you have to.
However, you
don't even have to use IE; you can download an extension,
Firefox's
equivalent to Add-Ons, called IETab, which basically
allows you to view
sites that are not normally usable with Firefox, such as
Windows Update
(yes, you've heard it right!). Anyway better stop before
it becomes too
much for you <smiles>. Hope that helps and enjoy Firefox! On Mon, 18 Jun 2007 10:08:33 +0100, "Mandy"
