Hi there,
heres how to do it
How to stop windows messenger sending pop up messages in windows XP.

Windows messenger sends out messages to your computer via msn pop up,
you=20
can stop this by doing the following,
  press the left windows key,
  press S, this will take you to settings press enter, now press enter
on=20
control panel,
now press A, until you hear administration tools press enter on it. Now

press S for services local, press enter, it will now say services local=20
tree view, press the tab key and this will take you to a list view. once
in this list press the M key, this will bring up the first messenger=20
service item we want to turn off, so now press alt enter this time, this

will bring up the properties for this item, now tab across until you
locate=20
the radio button to change it's status, it will say status started and
set=20
to automatic, this means it's started when your computer starts up, so
we=20
want to change this, down arrow until it says disable. Now if you tab to

the next tab this will say stop button this will stop the service now
and=20
ask you to confirm with a close button, press the space bar on this,
now=20
this will take you back in to the properties again where you tab to the=20
apply button press the space bar then tab to ok and press the space bar
again. Your done now so alt F4 out of all of the windows you have
opened=85.

hope this is helpful
Regards
