[access-uk] Re: Extra software with broadband packages

Hi

I am using Bt Yahoo and though they provide a disk with software on it I have never used it.

Even when using the USB Modem I received with their package I simply used Windows to set up the connection as you may when using a standard dial-up ISP.

Since using my router for a number of years I have had no problems as all connections are managed via it.

Subject: [access-uk] Extra software with broadband packages

From recent messages on the list (including one yesterday, which I accidentally deleted!), I have got the impression that some ISPs provide CDs which install antivirus, anti spyware etc. software in addition to what is needed to access their service. I think that BT Yahoo was mentioned.
I intend in the near future to switch to Broadband and a new ISP, but want to choose my own defences - and particularly to remain a "Symantec free zone".

I would appreciate any advice on ISPs who make such a requirement difficult if not impossible.

Douglas
