Yes, I do, and everything's fine except that this laptop won't update automatically. I will try to call Eset next week when we're back to some normality.

Carol,
With help from a friend on another list who happens to be a Hal user like
myself, I have solved my immediate problem.

Firstly he let me have a Hal map which enabled me to find and activate the
oK button in the "New Network detected" dialogue  But this had set Strict
Protection - useless for a network!.
Having done this I was able to go to the Personal Firewall item in the tree, then to Rules and Zones. I then tabbed to Setup and in its dialogue selected
Allow Sharing  .

Whilst your updating problem may not be related to this setting in the
Personal Firewall section, it might be worth checking that you do have "Allow
Sharing" selected.
