They might be useful say in my case going from UK to Ireland and then not
changing the phone though I too have 2 phones as you know Steve *smile*.

Not necessarily. Some you can switch from a menu option. But I don't like
them, because you can't receive incoming calls from both sims. One is
effectively switched off. I have two phones, much easier.

Both cannot be used at the same time. You have to switch the handset off and
back on again to use the other SIM and repeat the procedure to switch back
again.
