Hi Steve.

OK, they do have scheduling of defrag, you have a one button checkup function in BoostSpeed, don't know about the free one but there is no reason why you can't schedule using windows task scheduler. Either way, BoostSpeed includes scheduling, you just need to set up which takes a couple of keystrokes. Secondly, they defrag both the MFT (master file table) and swap file in BoostSpeed, again can't talk for the free defragmenter as I asked specificly about BoostSpeed. Thirdly, they have a separate registry defrag, the reason its separate is because the registry defragmentation is done on a reboot when windows starts, so its a separate program. Finally, BoostSpeed is around 25 quid including VAT, the cheapest version of Diskeeper will set you back 27 quid and you only get defragmentation with that.

Hi Ibrahim,

They also don't have scheduling for defrag, do they? Also don't have
defragging of the swap file, do they? I'll stick with DK Pro, it is
definitely the best.

All the best

Steve

Hi Steve.

I tried diskeeper on my laptop the other week, I didn't find it increased my

speed significantly, I did a manual scan and defragmentation and then left
it to it, but for the money they want for it, I'd just as well as use
Auslogics SpeedBoost 4. You get a lot more for your money and it comes with

a great many tools, not just defragmentation which is only part of the
solution to a clean and efficiently working system. Incidentally, I was
told by their support guys that the only feature they didn't have compared
to Diskeeper was Consolidation, but that they would be giving this feature
to their new version due out in a couple of months. It'll be included in
both their free disk defragmentation tool as well as their paid offering.
So doris, save your money.

Hi Doris,

It is certainly accessible. But for the most part, you install it and
forget it.

All the best

Steve

Hi,

How accessible is diskeeper 2009? I heard that it changed its style
from using standard menus and controls to using a lot of popups. Is
that true and if so how accessible is it still?

Cheers,

Doris

Hello all,
Thought I'd share the below with you. Enjoy!

New DiskeeperR 2009 has arrived! Diskeeper 2009 is the most advanced
and most intelligent automatic disk defragmenter ever built. It can
bring your computer speed and reliability to levels previously
unobtainable, even when your computer was brand new.

Without Diskeeper on board, relentless fragmentation will steadily
corrupt system performance and generate fragmentation-related
problems such as slowdowns, freezes, crashes and more. Make all that
a thing of the past!

Diskeeper 2009 Key Features:

InvisiTasking transparently paves the way for automatic
defragmentation and increased system speed with absolutely zero
overhead. Scheduled defrag is now a thing of the past.

Real-Time Defragmentation automatically handles performance-robbing
fragmentation as it occurs.

I-FAASTR 2.0 (Intelligent File Access Acceleration Sequencing
Technology) boosts access speed for the files most frequently used.

NEW! Free Space Defragmentation Engine has been enhanced to increase
file-write performance.

Low Free Space Defrag Engine ensures that even when you have less
than 1% free space you can still defragment your volumes.

Ensuring you get the best performance from your computer is not a
"nice to have" it is essential. Unfortunately, your computer didn't
come with a defragmenter adequate to the tasking of protecting your
computer from fragmentation related performance corruption.
Only Diskeeper 2009 can do this! Try before you buy!
