Hi,
Well I don't know what happened for that Font item to disappear from the
menu but in the end I got it back by going into the view menu, toolbars,
customise and resetting things in there. Also have now set up a shortcut
key to turn selected text red which is why I had to keep going in/out of the
font dialog in the first place.

Sometimes if you have mixed fonts (sizes) in a document, it's difficult to
get fonts sorted. If I'm not sure if it's all formatted correctly when
I've been playing around, I just change everything to one single font and
size and work my way through the various headings and ensure that the
right fots are selected.

I have no idea why but I was working in Word and went into the format
menu to change something in the font dialog, and font has seemingly
disappeared from the Format menu. I've been using the font dialog lots
for this document. Could I have inadvertently done something to remove
it from the menu? Help please if possible...
I can get to it from the context menu but still...bit disconcerting...
