I use the Realtek High definition audio that came with my PC and all works great in digital 7.1 surround.

Subject: [access-uk] Digital 7.1 sound card recommendations

Hi all.

I'm in the market for a 7.1 surround sound card with an optical digital
output for connecting to a surround sound amplifier. Has anyone any
experience using any of the following with Windows 7?

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express Sound Card
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer - Sound Card
Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional Series PCI Express Sound Card

None of them are specifically recommended for windows 7 so looking for
recommendations for any optical digital creative models in use, please.
