Thanks, Actual fact, I do not have much room, only a desk in a corner. I am looking to get something powerful as a desktop, and something as portable as possible so I can work in other rooms, or, take it out to other places. -------------------------------------------------- Thank you Ali -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jackie Cairns Sent: 02 April 2008 21:52 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Desktop replacement laptop? Hi Derek I think it depends what you want your machine to do, how much you have to spend, and where you are going to put it once you buy it. There are pros and cons with desktops and laptops. The advantages of having a desktop are that they are usually cheaper, components are easier and cheaper to change or modify if necessary, and tend to be more powerful. But there are some really good laptops on the market nowadays, and prices have come down to what they were. You have the portability advantage, and the ability to save your work if the mains goes down, and they are more compact to fit in a small working environment. I'm lucky to have one of each, and use them both for different purposes. My advice is to consider what you want it for, how much you are prepared to spend, and how much room you have. Just my thoughts.
