VEry good to hear remarks on this subject of defragging. I tend to do this
around once a month with System Mechanic, but having heard peoples' remarks
about regarding diskeeper, it sounds certainly worth investigating.
I'd only add that this experience highlights all too obviously the need for
backup. There are very cheap external hard drives these days which, being hard
drives, might be prone to going down themselves, but at least ones chances of
recovering lost data are much beeter than with nothing at all in reserve. DVD
with new capacities of around 8GB is another obvious candidate. Then also
there is on-line backup, but for so many gigs of backup that could be an
exspensive option.
So, maybe the question should be, what backup method should be used; and what
media storage type? From what's being siad thus far, sounds as if diskeeper
might also incorporate backup features of its own. Is this the case?

| Microsludge Defragmentation tool, then you're almost certainly right as it
| does a pretty poor job of it! But if you use a tool like Executive
| Diskeeper, with its on-the-fly disk management and superior defragmentation
| engine, it can significantly enhance a drive's performance over time. I
| reckon that it has been one of the best PC tool buys I've ever made
| actually, and still pay an annual SMA for it because of the improvement in
| performance I get!
