Caroline, As I have said in reply to another post, the Plextalk allows for speed to be increased or decreased on any kind of disk. The player can hold thousands of disk positions so essentially it will remember the position on any number of disks. After some research, it seems as if the PTN1 player, available from the RNIB, meets most of my requirements - it has an in-built speaker, works from battery as well as mains and allows you to speed up the playback of disks - but there are a couple of questions which as yet I haven't managed to find an answer to. So if anyone has one of these players, please could you let me know the following: 1. If you insert an MP3 disk into this player, such as those now provided by the Calibre library or the Infotech magazine, can you increase the speed of the playback? When I listen to material on cassette, I've got used to increasing the speed considerably and would want to do the same with MP3's. I know you can increase the playback speed for Daisy disks, but don't know if this applies to MP3 disks as well. 2. I know there is a resume feature so that if you stop a disk and remove it from the player, the next time you put that disk back into the player, it will remember where you were and start playing from that point. How many disks does this apply to? If I have three disks which I want to listen to, will the player remember my last position on all three, or does it only remember the last position on one disk? And finally, if anyone has any general comments about this player, either positive or negative, or if you think there is a far better player available which I probably should consider instead, please let me know. Thanks, Caroline. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
