[access-uk] Re: Cordless mouse

Hi George

There is a flickering red light, that lights steady when a button is
pressed. I tried a reboot and a reboot with the USB unplugged then plugged
back in when the computer was running again. The USB bong bing tells me
that it's connected, but the mouse is still dead in the water. I'm going to
get a laser mouse with a cord. Ok, a wireless mouse is that little bit more
convenient, but it's not worth the hassle.

Barry

Barry,

Try a re-boot before you take it back to the shop.

If it is an optical mouse, do you have a flashing red light
under the mouse? (Or is it one of the ball type?) If it's
an optical one, there is normally a red light under the
mouse. It's there's not, you may have the batteries in the
wrong way, or perhaps the batteries are just not seated
right.

George.

Thanks for the prompt reply, Tom. I tried pressing the two
buttons, but
that didn't work either. I think I've got a dud mouse.

The last time I used a cordless mouse, I had to press a
button on the
transmitter and a button on the mouse before it would work.

Cheers Tom.

I have just fitted a cordless mouse according to the
instructions. When I
do a Windows hardware test, it says that it is working fine,
but it isnt'
working at all. I have plugged the transmitter into a USB
socket. There is
a light on so the batteries are fine. Any idea's? using
Windows XP, JFW5.1
and a labtec wireless optical mouse plus.

Thanks.
