Greetings,

a friend of mine has received documents from solicitors in .jpg format and
needs urgently to access these. I understand he has tried to get them
resent in a more accessible format without success.

Of course under the disabilities Discrimination act, they ought to be in
accessible format, his parents have received print versions.

My friend has windowsXP (home) and **no** scanning software but when he
opens the file up on his system, it opens in some photo program, can't
remember if it's PhotoEditor or PhotoShop and it's now too late for me to
ring and ask him.

anyway, in that program there is a print facility which allows printing to
a named printer, so what I thought I could do is after this weekend, visit
him bearing K1000 v9.0 and load onto his machine, updating to v9.2. I
ought then to be able to send the print to the virtual Kiesie printer,
thence through K1000 to a format supported by it and his system.

I was wondering, though, to save me travelling up to birmingham (I am on
the south coast of the UK), does anybody know of a **free** program which
would achieve his objective?

My friend has also received files from a solicitor, again fairly urgently
in need of attention, in .wpd format. Neither of us know what program this
expects to open. Again, please advise if it's a standard program such as
MS-Publisher or something and if so, which component?

If not, any ideas where we can go to find out what program it expects to
use?

Note: I am copying this to my friend whose address is in the 'bcc' field of
my email client so any replies I will forward to him.

Thanks in advance.

All the best
