hi Kevin you can check the status of the usb port by going to administration
tools, locating computer management and system devices.
you should see something in the list called plug and play software enumerator,
if you open that, it will tell you whether its working or not.

Subject: [access-uk] Computer problems.
Hi all,
As stated last night my backup drive is not showing up It's not showing up in
device manager or it's not showing up in my computer!
Now I have just found out when I connect a usb device such as my mp3 player
up to the usb it's not showing up very frustrated I have done a system restore
back a few days I don't really like doing a system restore as I don't really
have much thaith in it.
I was going to do a reformat but if it's a hard ware fault that will not fix
anything.
Can someone help?
