If you guys have the technical skills you could set up a virtual machine and try Cobra on there. But I realize not all of us are technical.

Fair enough, I understand. We are at version 9.0 now, and new features
include full magnification, Cobra Explorer for viewing web pages with
Internet Explorer/Firefox, Windows 7 32 and 64 bit support, and that's
it from what I read.

Well, whatever it is, I can't risk trying it again, but I did as some of
the

So maybe the driver that comes with Cobra can be buggy on some machines?
Just a thought.

Well I have XP and Jaws can co-exist with Window Eyes on a system, but
couldn't with Cobra. I've never seen anything trash everything so
spectacularly! Dolphin do a good job with the speech side of it, but at
least their products can be removed! Is it any wonder I think my Windows
days may be coming to an end!

Sure, well I had JAWS alongside Cobra when I tried it, and JAWS still
worked. This was on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I suppose it's all
down to 2000/XP and video intercept, in that software must be done in a
certain order so as to not mess up the video chain.

Hi,

A couple of years ago, Pamtrad told me about this and asked me if I
wanted
a
job supporting it in the UK. Accordingly I tried installing it on my
computer. The result was that Jaws stopped working. I removed it,
removed
Jaws as the removal and even restoring hadn't worked, but still Jaws
would
not work. Video support had been majorly messed up. The only way even a
computer shop could find of fixing it was to reinstall Windows from
scratch.
I have never before or since known an install that wasn't fixed by
restoring
the system, but this wasn't. I would be very, very careful!

Cheers

Hello all,
I just want to tell you about an interesting new screen reader made by
German company Baum. It's called Cobra (I know, it's named after a
snake, hahaha). Joking aside, it contains lots of interesting and
inovative features, such as the ability to capture the screen and
perform on the fly OCR. No other screen reader I know does this. You can
download it, and try it as a 30 minute reboot situation from
www.baum.com. What's interesting though is that although a reboot is
necessary to run the 30 minute demonstraiton again, Cobra actually will
still speak, but will interrupt and remind you that the demo has
expired. Again no other screen reader does this.
Enjoy!
