Hi Andy,

OK, back to settings ...

The Remote CDDB tab is where you need to be and two addresses for the servers should be there. You can change which one you use when looking up if one doesn't work, but I usually find both are much of a muchness ...

Next is your email address and that's used only to send info back to you if there's a problem with a submission you make to the remote database. (They don't let you know if it's successful and I do find this feature a bit hit and miss and am not always sure of what an error really means ... but I do my best to add from time to time) I must say, I haven't ever had my email address refused so, unless your ISP won't permit communication with those servers I have no idea ... Just check you really have entered it correctly.

I haven't used other databases. There are occasions when I wish things were shown in a slightly different way, for example when you have two CD's in one box they're not always shown as 1 and 2 and you end up with everything in the one folder; but even that does work if you look carefully because you find you have two filenames starting with the same number and the latter works out to be the second CD sent to the database.

I did try adding extra online databases at one stage but probably used the "Add" button wrongly and tried to put in a new address before pressing it. On reflection, you probably have to press it first, then add an address. Anyway, I've not bothered with that any more since that time but can play if you need.

Don't forget your F8 and F9 keys which are very useful for quick ripping, the former being to .WAV and the latter to compressed MP3.

I've tried a few but didn't find anything better so just go with the flow, even though it's not always perfect.

HTH:

Hi Carol - Ah, the f4 option, just found it, and saw that I hadn't got the
correct drive letter selected for CDEX!

Ok, I've done that now, and want to make use of the freedb database to have
all the track titles correctly entered, but when I click on the access
remote db, I get a message asking me to enter a valid email address as the
one I have used is an error. I haven't used my email yet for the db info,
and it looks like it might be a paid for subscription, which is different to
the freed that I have been use to with other ripping programmes.

Can you tell me what I need to do, and if it's possible to use a free db for
artist and track info please?

Thanks -

Andy

| Andy,
|
| Have you checked your setups. You just need to go through that before you
| use the programme.
|
| By default, CDEX highlights all tracks at the beginning. (I changed mine
so
| that it does not and so that I select what I want to rip.) Otherwise you | have to tab around to the track name box and then cursor to the track you
| want.
|
| HTH:
|
| I hope that's sufficient as I'm not using the prog at the moment.
