Hello all,
I was looking at the latest version of CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com) which
I've just installed on my father's computer, and came across a very
interesting option, which is unchecked by default. It's called "wipe free
space". Now, for those who remembers Norton Utilities, you could do exactly
the same. I don't really understand the technical aspects, however it is
supposed to clean traces of, say, personal data, that, although has been
deleted from the system, hasn't been physically deleted from the hard drive.
As I say this is technical and probably should only be used by advanced
users, but still, a very interesting discovery indeed! So, for those who
really want a cleanout of their hard drives and who wishes to take a gamble
upon this wipe free space option, check it out! You'll be warned it'll take
significantly longer to clean, but just click ok and click the run cleaner
button. Enjoy!
