Hi Chris, Dave and all,
I'm using BT Broadband at the moment. When I ordered it, I told BT that I
would need an engineer to set it up, and that both my wife and I were using
screen readers and therefore we did not want their software installed on
either of our machines.
BT set things up manually and we have not really had a problem to date,
although I have heard on the BTinternet support group that BT are intending
to be involved with trials of a system of targeted advertising developed by
a company called Phorm, which, according to what is being said on the BT
Support news group, may actually break UK Law, although this has not been
confirmed.
If BT do decide to be involved with Phorm, even if it does not break UK
Law, I have heard that some webmasters have said that they may block access
to their websites by people whose ISP's are signed up to Phorm. Therefore,
I actually intend to leave BT myself if and when I move house, unless they
clarify before then that they are no-longer going to be involved with Phorm.
Please note that more information on Phorm can be found online.
