[access-uk] Re: Braille Paper

OK Jackie I must give you a call at the office so you can talk me through setting up the paper one day.

Hi Eleanor

If you use the wide width paper that is generally the most popular size for the Basic embosser, the line length is normally 42 characters, and the page length 28.

I hope that gives you some indication of where you need to be. It is a fiddle to set it up to start with, but once you know your widths and lengths, it's usually fine.

Hi Eleanor

As long as your paper is tractor-fed, it will fit the Basic embosser.

I was actually hoping Jackie that u might have been able to tell me which size in the RNIB paper would be ok with the ebossor but I expect you are not in a position to do that.

Hi Eleanor

We can supply Braille paper in boxes of 500 sheets for the Index Basic machines at £16. You can also obtain paper from Techno-Vision Systems, but you would need to confirm pricing with George.

RNIB do indeed supply paper at varying sizes and prices.

I hope that helps.

Hi to Jackie and Others
Hope nobody minds me asking this question on this forum. I have the Index Basic D and I know I can purchase two different types of braille Paper from the company I purchased the Index Basic D (orat least that the OU purchased it from)! Now what i want to know is this, the difference between the 500 sheets and the 1,000 sheets both costing around the same price. In addition, it appears RNIB sell a lot of Braille Paper so maybe people have used RNIB paper and if so what ones in terms of sizes have you used?

Eleanor
