I find the Booksense fine for playing music. However, I'm not interested in an over equalised sound.

Hi Hussein

My partner and I have used the BookSense XT, Martin extensively so, and
think it is a nice little machine. I personally wouldn't rate it for music,
but then I wouldn't rate any of those players for music, and think this is
where the iPod family leaves them for dead. But if you want DAISY and
documents read to you, then BookSense handles them well, and is an easy
player to get around.

Having said that, because he is such an avid book fan, I bought Martin the
Milestone 312 Pro for Christmas, and he just loves the thing. He likes its
portability, the nice Rachel voice, and the speaker and recording quality.
Its downside at present is that it doesn't read as many formats as
BookSense, only coping I think with text files.

I hope that provides you with enough info. Others will doubtless chip in
with their thoughts.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Subject: [access-uk] Booksense thoughts

Hello there,

Having seen the Booksense at the recent Sight Village 2011 exhibition, I'm
quite taken with the player and am considering making a purchase.

The current PTX1 player I have on loan from RNIB is, to put it frankly,
unusable when it comes to battery life. Less than two months usage and I'm
down to 20 minutes use out of it on batteries if I'm lucky, and that's with
only connecting it to the AC supply for charging. I am considering asking
RNIB for another player (a different model as this is the second PTX1 that's
gone out on me), but I was looking at purchasing the Booksense for myself.

I'd be looking at the TX50 model, as I might as well go the whole hog and
have the Bluetooth etc. included.

Can anyone who has used this player for a reasonable length of time offer
any advice regarding the worthwhileness of a purchase?

Thanks in advance for your time and help.
