Thanks for this. Not as nasty as I thought: I chose the wron disk, and it turned out to be a dvd; I thought it was rather odd! I'll now seek out the correct disk and get going.

It was the Belkin receiver, and that might well explain the problem.

On the subject of Blue Opal, I also have that receiver; in trying to install
the software, I find that the disk has become corrupted. Do you know where I
can obtain a replacement?

Which Bluetooth receiver do you have? If it is the Belkin, there is no
need
to install the software at all. Windows XP will automagically pick it up.

Please can someone advise me whether you should turn off anti-virus
software
before installing bluetooth software? I've had some difficulty installing,
and the anti-virus software is not blocking the bluetooth. Am I missing
