Barbara, have you taken it off your startup list? If you haven't try that then
try to uninstall it again.

I am having trouble uninstalling Avast from a netbook. Although the program
is not in the Start Up menu, it seems to start when the computer starts. I have
turned off protection, but still when I try to remove I get an error message
saying the program may be in use. There doesn't seem to be an uninstall option
within the program itself. Can anyone help?
