[access-uk] Re: Avast.

"You are also given initially something like 30 days..."

I understand Eleanor that you have some working vision but for a totally blind
user I haven't heard that registering was problematic for them!

Perhaps a matter worth pursuing as I originally in a thread mentioned the
product.

My laptop with Avast installed isn't available to me just now so I am not able
to test registering.

Actually Tony it is 60 days trial and not 30. on the other list people
seemed to think it was 30 days also but this is not the case. Avast can have
its problems for someone without vision who is attempting to register as one
must view a graphic and then enter in an edit box the 3 letters seen on the
screen. A screen reader cannot read this as it is a graphic. Usually when
Avast is updated one hears a male voice saying it is up-to-date. I got quite a
shock the first time as I was not expecting this and suddenly this voice comes
from my computer (smile) if only!

    Hi Mandy,

We have just had a discussion re Avast on another list so here are a
couple of thoughts!

Avast will only be valid for 14 months after registering for it.

You are also given initially something like 30 days in which to register
the product before it will become defunct!

Another thing you might ponder is to install the latest version.

It is quite possible that there may not have been updates recently but we
wouldn't of course want to go on that!

    Good luck!

Since coming back from my cruise, Avast hasn't updated at least not
verbally. It didn't whilst I was away either.
What should I do about this?

      Mandy.
