I understand that setting up AD on the system means if a programme has AD it
will come up when played or not as is the case. I also understand that with
NTL it is only the BBC channels so far that they have picked up for
transmission so the ITV and Sky channels are not yet set up but will be so
in the fullness of time
As to which individual shows are AD is listed in the various magazines,
newspapers and Ceefax entries but sight is needed. Whether it is in the RNIB
what's on listing I don't know as personally I _never watch any TV at all.

Hi
Been following this thread with interest as I am an NTL Digital tV user.
Just tried channel 926 and it says it is BBC England , does this mean I will receive audio described programs on this channel.

Roger,
That is interesting. I will try again with NtL and report back if I get anywhere. Just out of interest, could you tell us the area where the audio description is being received?
If I get any info I will report back.
David

Hi David et al
A friend has the NTL cable system and is currently receiving AD on BBC1
and
BBC2 at least. He may be getting it on other BBC channels but I'm not sure
about that. Getting this information from NTL was unbelievably hard as
almost all members of the help section had no knowledge at all of it. But
being a bit of a persistent so and so he finally succeeded. A rocky road
lay
ahead. He got sighted help to go through the menu system but it still
didn't
work. Finally he called out an engineer who said he didn't have the
correct
remote hand set. So he now has 2 for his control box as the new one has so
many buttons on it he gets lost navigating it.
What he was not told was that the usual BBC channels he uses are in the very low numbers, mostly single figures but the AD channels are in the nine hundred series channel numbers. BBC1 is either 916 or 926 I believe. Whether it is regional I've no idea but the engineer led him to understand it was national. But with the usual misinformation from NTL who knows for sure.

Hi People,
I have heard rumours recently that NTL are shortly to start broadcasting audio description. Not sure whether this is on Sky channels or terrestrial channels, nor do I know whether it is in all regions or only in selected areas. I have phoned NTL but the person I spoke to knew nothing about this.
If anyone has any info, I would love to know about it.
David
