Hi
I've got to admit that I now quite like the iPod. I must admit I didn't, but now I have the scripts working well, what is appealing is the physical size and weight of the device. In terms of storage, there are 512 MB and 1 GB versions.

I also now like iTunes to the extent that I prefer listening to and navigating audible books with iTunes as opposed to Audible Manager.

For anyone interested, I shall be demoing the scripts on next week's Main Menu programme.

Admittedly as Sunil says, the IRiver series of products holds a lot more, so I suppose it comes down to how much audio you want to keep on the device at any one time.

Why do you want an iPod? Apart from the fact they only appeal to
shameless consumer whores, the software for uploading stuff onto it is
unusable (which seems to be changing because of Brian Hartgen's scripts
and set files) and unless you can see the display how on earth can you
scroll through the directories. That is, apart from the shuffle, which
doesn't rely on being able to see a display, but the memory is 512 meg -
I think - which is pretty tiny compared to alternatives that are more
accessible and offer at least forty times that.

Take the iRiver 300 series. It's a piece of cake to upload tracks onto
it thanks to the Explorer-style interface and after you've memorised the
key presses to navigate between folders, its easy to flit between albums
and tracks etc. Forget the iPod its all hype.
