"Will Jaws users still have to purchase scripts to make iTunes
accessible?"

I have had JAWS working with iTunes 8.0 working with JAWS 9.0 on VISTA
as a quick test this morning without Brian's scripts, a lot of things
are working. I think it needs a tweak or two, but the under the bonnet
work should benefit all screen readers not just WindowEyes.

The iPod Nano 4G will use voice tags for the the menus etc. that get
installed onto the iPod taking up a little space on the machine. There
are some get out type phrase in the information I have seen and which
Jackie has posted, however my guess is that the music stuff is covered
with speech. It would be interesting to see if in the near future any
of the Apple stores would be able to arrange a demo of this aspect of
the Nano. I haven't actually seen yesterday's keynote but I know
accessibilty got a very small mention which perhaps given the audience
might be expected.

Regards.

I know that has only just been announced, but does anyone know how
accessible the iPods with the spoken menus will actually be? Will they
for
instance give a similar level of accessibility as the Olympus recorders
do
by speaking menu options but not filenames? Or will it be possible to
hear
artist and album title as you scroll through. And of course there's the
process of transferring tracks to it. Will Jaws users still have to
purchase
scripts to make iTunes accessible?...cheers

"Hardly exciting, it's only 16 GB that. Considering they do 120GB
models, I think it is pretty pathetic."

I believe when last surveyed the sweet spot in terms of desired portable
storage was found to be somewhere aound the 30 to 40GB range. Not
everyone may want or need to carry their entire library of music,
assuming it stretches that far with them all the time. Hard drives in
portable devices are a mixed blessing, they have cheap capacity but
mechanically vulnerable.
