I would recommend the Microsoft Security Essentials program for antivirus
etc, it's excellent and has a small footprint so it doesn't hog your PC
resources like some of the other brands do.

Can listers let me have their recommendations for security systems, anti
virus, spay ware etc.
Will having the Microsoft security centre suffice?
I've also had panda security recommended, would be great to have views and
suggestions please,
