Hi Chris,
I think if you are going to do that, you should be a little more careful.
First, you should make a restore point if possible. Second, you should back
up if possible, anything you uninstall, and never change anything you can't
reverse.
I am not pointing the finger, I have done all this myself, so I know,
believe me.
All the best
Steve

Subject: [access-uk] Advice on maintaining other people's machines
Hi all,
I went to do some maintenance yesterday at my friend's house using her
laptop running XP Home. I uninstalled everything, including her antivirus,
and didn't realize that her DVD drive wasn't working properly till too late.
So I've now left her without an antivirus, but managed to get her some
antispyware protection. What do you all think of me checking stuff out
before doing any such maintenance? I didn't know this should have been done
before anything else till tonight. Any comments on this would be greatly
appreciated. I just hope she manages to find at least AVG 7.5 Free as she's
still using JAWS 8. Thanks in advance!
