[access-uk] Re: Accessible Set Top Box

Hi Alison,

Just wondering, will the speech be able to read info other than the Electronic Programme Guide, such as the news and weather available from the red button?

Regards.

Ian

Hi,
It uses Loquendo. We will get some sound clips and DVD on the website
shortly. Will let you know as soon as they are available.
Thanks
Alison

Sorry to reply to my own message. I do have one question. What
synthesizer does it use? Is there a way I can hear a demo or something?
This matters to me as I am hearing impaired.
Many thanks.

Hello all,
This sounds absolutely brilliant! I have applied to get my own place,
and I think this is just what I need! I don't plan to go with Sky or
any
other company, since I don't really want a package, as I don't watch
TV
all that much, at least for the time being I don't. So I plan to go
Freeview if the area I live supports it.
So any further information will be very helpful. I shall watch this
list
for such information!

Alison,

Try as I may, I can't get this link to work. It seems that it's even
too long as an URL.

Could you be kind enough to check it, please, and maybe send it as a
TINYURL to help people access the page correctly?

Thanks!

Hi,
As promised, here is the link to the new accessible set
top box (a day early due to popular demand!):

http://onlineshop.rnib.org.uk/display_item.asp?n=11&c=77&sc=250&id=4172&;

it=1&l=3&d=0

We are taking orders, but please note that stock is not
due until week commencing 19 July. If you're thinking of
popping into one of our Resource Centres for a demo,
please check before you travel, as we have a very limited
number of demonstration units at the moment.

We will be running sessions at Sight Village and I'll
send the link to the YouTube video when it goes live
(with moderators permission).

Thanks
Alison
