Chris, That surprises me a little. This laptop with Vista came with AVG Free pre-installed and I used it for a few weeks before switching to the Eset Smart Security. AVG certainy updated automatically so I suspect that there is a setting somewhere which the suppliers of the laptop had used to ensure this. Eset Smart Security updates as it should and I see no reason why NOD32 should not do the same. Douglas .
