MessageHi Ian,

Have you tried it with HT Com 2? Speed is now hardly an issue at all, when
you translate the file. I think you are basing your experiences on the old
Worm software for DOS and the like.

All the best

  Hi Steve and all,

Can't be more specific about uploading difficulties I'm afraid as it was
stuff picked up on the rumour mill some time ago. I was merely testing the
water to see if people had shared experience. Thanks for the info about
adaptors. Also I'd be very interested to hear other worm users' experience
of the onboard translator. For me, accuracy was no the only issue. There
was also the question of speed of translation. Cipher did this almost
instantaneously while the Worm's own translator massively extended the
upload time.

  Cheers now.

    Hi Ian,

Certainly there are Serial to USB adapters. They are all over the
place and nothing special, and they work with the Bookworm, or at least my
Xercom one does.

I can't answer the question about Cipher, but have you tried the
Worm's own translator recently? The programmer, Wolfgang Hubert, is working
very hard on UK Braille, and I think he has about a 95 percent accuracy rate
now, and getting better.

Finally, as a UK distributor of The Worm, I am not familiar with
problems with the software not sending files to it. Care to elaborate?

Finally, don't forget to download the latest version from Handy Tech.
There are quite frequent releases of the software now.

      Hi all,

Can anyone tell me whether there exist such things as serial to USB
adapters? If there are such things, would I need to be careful about the
sort of USB connector to be sure that my PC would be able to send texts to
my worm? Is anyone else doing things this way? It'd be really nice not to
have to faff about in the back of the PC plugging the worm up to the serial
port. Also, does anyone know whether there are issues with using Cipher
with XP home as this is the translation program I have. finally, I'd heard
hat there'd been problems with the new BW software either failing to send
material or sending it as gobbledegook to the worm.

      Cheers now.
