don't bother boiling over! smile. mainstream shops and the likes of amazon
charge the RRP, or near it for audiobooks. so you'd have to be insane or not
be in the know to buy audiobooks from them anyhow. buy them direct from
chivers or isis! or secondhand on ebay. smile.

Hi Carol,

The following took all of 30 seconds to find. The last
paragraph should get your blood boiling.

George.

VAT on Goods Sold by Amazon.co.uk

VAT stands for value added tax, which is charged on goods
sold by Amazon.co.uk within the European Union (EU). In
accordance with the laws governing members of the European
Union, Amazon.co.uk is obliged to charge VAT on all orders
delivered to destinations in member countries of the EU. In
general, VAT is charged in accordance with the local
legislation in each member state.

The "Our Price" amounts displayed for goods sold by
Amazon.co.uk are inclusive of UK VAT. However, your final
price may differ depending on the actual VAT rate that
applies to your order. You will be able to see your final
price inclusive of applicable VAT before you confirm your
order, when you have completed your order information
(including your delivery address).

VAT for UK customers

The UK VAT rate on books delivered to the UK is 0%.

For non-book items that are shipped to addresses within the
UK (such as giftwrap, audio books, CDs, vinyl records,
minidiscs, videos, DVDs, electrical and photographic items,
toys, software and PC and video games) the UK VAT rate is
17.5%. For items containing a book and an item such as a
CD-ROM (mixed media), the VAT charged is dependent on the
proportion of the total cost subject to VAT. The VAT rate on
delivery reflects the VAT rate of the items we are sending
you.

Note: under EU VAT legislation certain Books items (such as
audio books and e-Books) are not eligible for 0% VAT and in
those cases the standard VAT rate of 17.5% will apply.

Subject: [access-uk] AMAZON PRICES

Hi all,

Can anyone recall whether the prices listed on Amazon are
with or without VAT included, please? Thought it might save
me having to wade through docs or almost complete a
transaction and find I was paying more than I'd expected.

Thanks.
