Well George, I'm using Nero to back up my mp3 files onto
dvd. This works fine and the dvds copy successfully. They
just have music mp3 files on.
But, when I try and play the dvds, the computer just keeps
telling me to insert a disk, even when there is one already
in there.
I took the dvds I had copied round to a friend's house. She
has a Pioneer 110D player, and they played beautifully on
there.
The computer recognises audio cds if I put them in the
drive, but not these dvds I have done myself containing
mp3s.
Hope that makes sense.

Hi Donna,
Perhaps you'd better start by telling us all what software
you are using to record your DVDs.
Also, you do often need a special license to play many of
what you call "bought" DVDs.

It struck me that I didn't explain this very well before, so
hopefully this is better:
I have a Pioneer DVD/RW DVR-106D
I can read and play audio cds with this no problems.
It also recognises bought dvds, though I don't as yet know
how to play these on the computer.
But, if I use a blank DVDr, it will copy stuff onto it fine,
like MP3 or data files, but it won't read it. So once I've
copied the files, they won't play.
Is this a normal thing to expect, or do people think there's
something wrong with it?
And, incidentally, how do you play a bought dvd on the
computer?
Really hoping someone can satisfy my curiosity.
