Hi Carol,

If it is easier, do it this way.  Press Talks Star on V2, changed to Talks
Menu on V3, to get into Talks itself.  Now right arrow over to Advanced.
Now arrow down to Cursor Mode, press the centre of the joystick to select
it, and change it to letters with the up and down arrows and select it.  Now
back out of Talks, and it should stay in letter mode.

Jackie,

The only way I can cycle through the options is to press the Talks key each
time.  If I try to do it as I think you're describing - Talks, then hold
down the figure 1 key for a few seconds - nothing happens for about four or
five seconds and then I end up in Help.

Additionally, when I've changed the setting to letters, I still can't move
through the text letter by letter to read this phone number.  Never have
sussed this one.  Perhaps I do need to upgrade ...
