Yep, I've got the gift of the gab ok (smile). But seriously Carol, I didn't have any problem. When I got through, the lady just put me through. It must depend on who you get. The frustration is keep having to ring 195 to ask in the first place. If I'd got hassle I'd have left it. Had enough of that for one day thanks (grin).Jackie----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol Pearson" <carol.pearson@xxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, November 30, 2007 3:42 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: 1471 free ring backJackie, You must have the gift ...I just called (without the cuppa first) and asked for Registrations. The lady didn't have a clue where she could put me through and offered Customer Services. Now I didn't know what to do if she didn't understand ... so I'm back to you all to say "What now?"-- Carol carol.pearson@xxxxxxxxxxxx----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <cairnsplace@xxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, November 30, 2007 1:12 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: 1471 free ring backJim, I just tried it purely to see how I'd get on. Since I'd just had my soup and a cuppa, I thought I could cope with a wait if necessary (grin). I rang 195 and asked to be put through to Registrations when the lady asked for my PIN and name. She said: "Oh yes Mrs Cairns what is it in connection with"? I told her it related to the 1471 service, and she put me through. Next, I spoke to this very polite old gentleman. I was as sweet as only Jackie knows how to be, and asked if he could confirm that I was receiving the free service if I press three to ring back a number left on 1471. He said: "Madam, if you would care to wait a while, I will check this for you. But all customers are automatically registered with this feature when they join". Well, I'm no madam I can tell you, but I said I'd wait. He eventually asked me to confirm my phone number on the account, and then said I was registered. I explained that I wanted to clarify whether this is automatic for new customers, or for those who have used the service for a long time like myself. He said: "Madam, it's for everyone. But you do realise don't you that you only get the free bit when pressing three, not the call itself". I said I realised this, and thanked him in my nicest voice for his help. (smile). So there you go. It's supposed to be for everyone who's registered. But thanks to the person who raised it here as I didn't know that before.Jackie----- Original Message ----- From: "jim" <j_doherty2@xxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, November 30, 2007 12:45 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: 1471 free ring backDave, I asked her to put me threw to registrations, she hadn't a clue what I was on about, even though I tried to tell her why I wanted registrations.Total waste of my time. Dave HI Jackie and Dave, I also am in the same boat and I phoned 195 to register, the operator didn't have a clue what I was on about and told me to contact customerservices, so I did and spoke to a foreign person who also didn't have a clue what I was on about, so I gave it up as a bad experience. It's notworth the hassle. Good luck to all those who manage to register. Jim.Thanks Dave. I'm in the same boat as yourself on this one, so willdo.Jackie----- Original Message ----- From: "Ankers, Dave (UK)" <Dave.Ankers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2007 2:42 PM Subject: [access-uk] 1471 free ring backHi All, I have been watching the thread and remembered that I was beingchargedfor this service. So I rang 195 and enquired about it. The first advisor told me to contact BT to register, so I did and eventuallygotthrough to the age and disability department, number 0800 9195 91,andwas told that it is with the 195 service that one needs to beregistered. So back to them and the second advisor agreed and put methrough to registration. Apparently those newly registered are automatically registered on the 1471 ring back service, and thoselikemyself have to ask to be registered. Why they don't just registereveryone is beyond me. So if you phone 195, ask for registration anddonot accept being told to contact BT.
