[3ddesktop-dev] Re: update of Linux, problem with 3ddesk

Well, this suggestion worked for me.

I don't know how I installed 3ddesktop before, but I'm thinking I must have done a conversion of a .rpm file to a .deb and installed that via the package manager. I've removed that older install of 3ddesktop and recompiled 3ddesktop from source. Everything is back to normal now.

BTW, in the latest release is the configuration file in /etc/3ddesktop used anymore? I had to put my config file in ~/.3ddesktop in order for it to be read.

Thanks for the help.

Yep. There are some dependecies, possibly in kernel. Try recompile
3ddesk from source, or search for driver containing this symbol.

Hi all,

I just updated my Debian box to the lastest testing code. After a
reboot, when I attempted to use 3ddesk I got the following error:

Attempting to start 3ddesktop server.
3ddeskd: relocation error: 3ddeskd: undefined symbol:
XF86VidModeQueryVersion
Daemon started. Run 3ddesk to activate.
Server not found after waiting 5 seconds.
Could not find server.
Try starting manually (3ddeskd)

Looks like something got updated that 3ddesk is depending on.

Any suggestions for me?

Thanks,
