[3ddesktop-dev] system hard freeze with 0.2.7

Hi all,

I can reproduce a system freeze both on my "athlon xp/nvidia" desktop
computer and on my "mobile penium 4/radeon" laptop when 3ddesktop is
running. Both are running gentoo.
This happened both with XFree and wih xorg.

Method: login to my kde desktop. Start 3ddesktop. 
Change to tty1 by ALT - Ctrl - F1.
Login as root on tty1.
Try to go back to kde with Alt - F7.

My screen keeps on showing tty1 which is frozen, it is impossible to
change to any other terminal. It is possible to login remotely to the
computer with ssh and  work on it remotely.

NB 1) If while on kde a graphical terminal is opened, for example,
eterm, and I su to root on that terminal I can then change to tty1 and
login as root there whithou problems.

2) Actually the method described works on my desktop. 
On my laptop a similar freeze is not os complicaed to obtain, it
occurs a lot more easily, so much so that I removed 3ddesktop  after a
few days experimenting.

I am no programmer / software expert so I haven't the faintest idea of
how to debug this. I have the idea that the problem ought to be
reproducible on other systems too, let me know if I can provide useful
information.
