Hi,

 I think the attached suggestion is worth perusing.  In my desktop I see
 there's an atom named _WIN_WORKSPACE_NAMES which looks this this:

 _WIN_WORKSPACE_NAMES(STRING) = "Main", "Devel", "Browse", "Mail"

 Perhaps that's the standard way of communicating this information?

by windowmaker instead of numbers.
