Back to 3ddesk, and it rocks like the first time..
Some may remember me and my problems.. they were gone! New graphic
card, same operating system, no more problems!
To introduce myself again, here are two ideas for 3ddesk-views:
First View: the movie theater
When activated, your actual desktop scrolls back and reveals the
surrounding of a movie theater where the desktop is the canvas.
While scrolling back, the camera reaches a point behind the movie
projector. The film is stopped and you see some of the coming and
already shown pictures, resembling your desktop screenshots. At the
lense you see enlarged the current desktop, the other desktops are
above and below the lense. in the background is still the large
canvas holding the bigger projection of your current desktop. As you
select another desktop (up or down), the film gets moved and the next
desktop is on the lense, changing also the shown picture on the
canvas.
Second view: Book
A variation of the "flip"-theme: as you scroll backwards, you see
that your desktop is a page on a book. You can see only two desktops
in this model, since an opened book shows only two pages. You can
select the other page, activate the selected page as your desktop, or
flip pages to search for a wanted desktop.
Imlib2-Problems
For people using elder linux distributions and thus facing problems
with the installation imlib2 (like I did):
I finally made it with a binary rpm I found on the web for the elder
distribution. Just don't hesitate to search for something like "Your
Distribution 8.0 imlib2", and maybe you find it, too. If imlib2 is
installed, you can install imlib2-devel from a binary-rpm of a
follower of your distrubution (at least, that was possible in my
case..).
Greetings,
Andreas Sigg
